Three Broadway musicals take their bows for the last time before closing on July 29, 2007.
Those three include:
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which opened for previews on March 9, 1994 and to the general public on April 18, 1994.
Grey Gardens, which opened for previews on October 3, 2006 and to the general public on November 2, 2006. It also recently won three 2007 Tony awards. There are rumors that this will be recorded for a future television special.
110 in the Shade (a revival), which opened for previews on April 13, 2007 and to the general public on May 9, 2007.
We’ll be taking a closer look at these musicals through some video clips toward the middle of next week. Stay tuned!

I’ve always loved Beauty and the Beast, but I’m glad it’s closing. It was sad for me to see it the last time I saw it in NYC with Donny Osmond. The cast was terrible and the entire show lacked energy. Yup, Disney Broadway is losing its punch. Mary Poppins and Lion King are all well, but I did not like Tarzan and I’m not looking forward to Little Mermain, although I would like to. Never saw grey Gardens and never had a desire to see it. I’m sure anything is better than Spring Awakening, though. I loved Audra McDonald in 110 in the Shade, but the rest of the cast was not that great. I’m glad that it’s not closing because of a lack of sales, just because it’s time.
