I don’t know about you, but I’m hooked on NBC’s reality series, “Grease– You’re the One that I Want!” I’ve been watching it from the beginning, and it’s been interesting to watch the progression of the actors and actresses involved. The weekly send-offs have been tear-jerking, what with the guys singing “Sandy” and the girls singing “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee (reprise).”
What I want to know is why they didn’t decide to cast most of the finalists as the rest of the characters (friends) in Grease? Some of them would have made great buddies for Danny and Pink Ladies for Sandy.
I wasn’t sure of my favorites until these last few weeks, and it’s been more difficult with the guys, as I’ve liked more of them.
My favorite girls have been Laura and Ashley S. (Is it just me, or doesn’t Ashley S. resemble a young Ann-Margaret?), and they’re still in the top 3.
The guys, well, I’ve like Austin, Chad, and Max all along. I also liked Kevin (he and Austin were my top 2 favorite singers in general), but I didn’t think “Danny” was the right role for him; he’d be better suited for “Jean Valjean” in Les Miserables, or The Phantom of the Opera. He has a powerful voice that’s more classic than rock ‘n’ roll.
Chad was voted out last week.
Austin got me when he sang the duet “I Don’t Know Much, But I Know I Love You.” He had the look of love and passion in his eyes, and it looked real. I can’t say that any of the others had the same expressions during the love duets.
Max has been the underdog all the time, doing everything that’s asked of him, and nothing less. And he’s good!
It’s really tough now, because Austin and Max are both my favorite guys and I wish both of them could win– maybe one could be the understudy. Laura’s got my vote. I guess we’ll see who makes the top 2 this Sunday!
So, who’s the one that you want??
