“Little Shop of Horrors” meets “Heroes” — May 7

May 7th, 2007 · 1 Comment · Ellen Greene, Little Shop of Horrors, Television Appearances

All you Broadway AND “Heroes” fans out there, take note!

Tonight, May 7th, actress Ellen Greene (Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors) will be appearing on NBC’s “Heroes” as– get this!– Sylar’s mom, Virginia Grey!! (How creepy is that?)

The May 7th episode is titled “The Hard Part.” TVGuide.com describes it thus: “Hiro and Ando are even more determined to save the world after seeing the grim future; Nathan takes steps to win the election. Thompson (Eric Roberts) brings someone new into the organization; and Sylar visit[s] his mom (Ellen Greene).”

Ellen Greene began her musical career as a nightclub singer; she originally performed in the New York cabaret Reno Sweeney’s in Greenwich Village, which is now closed . She was “discovered” when she was 21, and went on to appear in Boom Boom Room and The Threepenny Opera; she earned a 1977 Tony nomination for her work in the Opera.

However, she is best known for her adorable lisping role as Audrey in both the original stage (1982-1984) and film productions (1986) of the dark comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors.

You can check out a list of her film and television experience at IMBD.com. She also has a solo recording, released in late 1994, titled “In His Eyes.”

NBC’s description: “From creator/writer Tim Kring (NBC’s “Crossing Jordan”) comes “Heroes,” an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities.”

The show’s main stars include Milo Ventimiglia, Hayden Panettiere, Adrian Pasdar, Santiago Cabrera, Masi Oka, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Ali Larter, Tawny Cypress, Noah Gray-Cabey, and Greg Grunberg.

Love Ellen Greene! She has a great CD out, and I am excited to hear that she is also doing a pilot with Kristin Chenoweth!
