The Little Mermaid, the latest Disney Theatrical Productions musical to head for Broadway, is well on its way. The pre-Broadway engagement of the musical officially opens to the public tonight, August 23, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, Colorado. The Little Mermaid has been in previews since July 26.
From now through September 9, you can take part in The Little Mermaid’s pre-Broadway run. The show is due to move to Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 3, and officially open to the public on December 6. The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre is no stranger to Disney musicals, as it was also home to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which closed on Broadway on July 29.
The cast includes:
Sierra Boggess as Ariel
Sean Palmer as Prince Eric
Norm Lewis as King Triton
Tituss Burgess as Sebastian
Eddie Korbich as Scuttle
Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby
Derrick Baskin as Jetsam
Tyler Maynard as Flotsam
Cody Hanford and J.J. Singleton as Flounder
Sherie René Scott as Ursula, the evil sea witch
Sierra Boggess was most recently seen as Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom — The Las Vegas Spectacular, as well as in the touring company of Les Miserables.
Personally, I’m really excited to see Sherie René Scott in this interesting role. I loved her in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Aida, and The Last Five Years.
